Shilaoren is a surf spot located in Qingdao city. It's a South-East oriented sandy beach. We can surf there all year long, but the most appropriate period is May to November, with typhoons in August and September. Typhoon swell can be powerful, but most of sessions are 80 cm to 1,50 m waves. Mid tide and low tide are the best moment for opening right and left peaks. Best swell orientation is South, South-East or East. Wind is often off or side off shore. Water temperature in winter is about 5 C, and in summer about 24 C.
Qingdao Liuting Airport with many flights from China other cities, Japan and Korea, or by train (5h from Beijing, 6h from Shanghai).
Many hotel in Qingdao, as it's a very touristic destination in China, also very packed in peak season.
About 4 parking places along the beach, very crowed in peak season, about 10 cny/car.
No surf shop in Qingdao by now, for board rental or equipment buying get in touch with Qingdao Surfing Association.
No surf school nor camps in Qingdao yet, maybe in couple of year...
When it's flat, take a paddle board and have a tour along the coast, beautifull little coves to discover from Olympic Marina to old city. Again QSA can help!
