Most packs have room for regular storage, but a duffle will be much better option than a rucksack , much more useful for a surfer. You'll have room for all the extra gear such as surf wax and spare fins. If you are after wetsuit storage, do make sure that you get a wet / dry pack, as this will keep your other stuff water free.

This is Ignite, part of the surf series of Quiksilver backpacks. This it the mid-tier in our range. Again you've got the fully padded air mesh back panel and underside of your shoulder straps. Sternum strap, (click) adjustable, pocket on the front so you can keep your cell phone, hands free.
Pocketing, you've got multiple side pockets on this, four different side pockets. Large volume bottom side pockets that are tarp lined, put all your surf stuff in. Easy to clean out should sand or anything get into them. Your top pocket over here is fleece lined so you can put a camera, film, any valuables you don't want to get scratched. Your front pocket here, you've got surf specific organisation with a fin stash. This opens up, you have dividers to keep your fins separated. Expensive set of fins, you don't want them to just get thrashed around the bag. You have a little pocket her to keep your key for your fin set, so you always have it with you and a key fob as well to keep you keys safe and in one spot.
Top pocket, just a lot of organisation here. you can put wax, put whatever you want in it. Just organise all your little things, sunscreen, whatever it may be.
This very top pocket, you've got a hanging fleece lined pocket again. This is where you can put your sunglasses and any other valuable you want to keep safe and away from the bottom of the bag.
Your main compartment, fully fleece lined, comes with a removable dry bag. This is different from your standard dry bag, it's actually a roll top. So you take this thing and roll it down 3 times, clip it, (click) and you've got an air tight and water tight bag. You can put your wetsuit towel in here and keep your other stuff dry if you're on a road trip. you can put your important stuff that you want to keep dry, and make sure it doesn't get wet.
This bag also features a dedicated laptop sleeve, 3/4 opening, fully padded on both sides to protect your laptop. The bottom even stops before the bottom of the bag so if set it down hard you're not going to be denting or banging up your laptop. All the zippers on this bag are like all of our surf bags now, nylon coil zippers with plastic sliders so you don't have to worry about salt water corrosion keeping it around the ocean or with wetsuits being around them.
