Sandy Ryan Innersection 2012

This section will be unique compared to many Innersection entries for the fact it was filmed entirely at one location. Sandy first surfed the Shipstern Bluff in 2009 and immediately fell in love with the wave, locking his radar onto it and returning for almost every swell since. In making the section, we tried to use images that show the harsh ruggedness of the landscape and the frightening power of the wave, crossed with the wonder and sheer natural beauty of the place. Sandy Ryan is Shipsterns most regular regular, despite living in Victoria. He flies into the Apple Isle on the sniff of a swell, ensuring he's in the line-up before the sun rises and stays until the sun sets. It's this commitment and perseverance that has seen Sandy score many of the best paddle-in barrels ever witnessed at the break. Sandy has achieved an outstanding level of competence at Shippies but dreams of taking things to the next level...The challenge of paddling a bomb from deep on the reef, pulling in off takeoff and going over the step in the barrel and making it is the ride talked about by many of Shipsterns elite. A ride that has never been successfully ridden. Will Sandy be the one to bring this vision to reality? Will it happen in time for the Innersection DVD?
