For the past eight years — but really the last three — we’ve been paying close attention to Brazil’s plethora of slabs, the most popular of which is known as “Avalanche,” which is about as perfect a name for a wave like this as any name is for any wave on Earth. It surfaced in a big way almost exactly one year ago — and once Brazilian charger Daniel Rangel broke the Internet with his Wave of the Day there on June 27th, we knew it was only a matter of minutes before we’d see the encore footage from this open ocean beast, three miles offshore of Vila Velha city in the state of Espirito Santo, Brazil.
