Innersection Blue changed the way surf movies were made. With $100,000 in prize money and the winner decided entirely by the viewers, original sections were submitted by surfers like Kelly Slater, John Florence, Joel Parkinson, Nic Von Rupp, Josh Kerr, Mike Losness, Mikala Jones and many more. Amazingly, a virtually unknown surfer from Maui named Matt Meola rose to the occasion and won the event.
