Waves Surfed

North End Wrightsville Beach
Description:

North End of Wrightsville Beach, NC As with the east coast of the US. It can be flat as a pancake or big. A little better quality of a wave further south on Wrightsville Beach but if you want less of a crowed go to the north end. Locals are pretty friendly. Hard to say about "Wave Quality Rating" (can be awful or real nice) and "Difficulty" (all depends how big, know your limit) I have seen nice little knee to waist one day and overhead + the next.

Malpais
Description:

Really nice peeling beachbreak with a pointbreak off to left (if looking out over ocean). sandy bottom with a few boulders/rocks here and there. Wave quality varies a bit (as always) but was AT LEAST 3/5 while we were there with chest high being typical (and some overhead sets). Absolutely Beautiful small, laidback town. Waves vary but 95 % of the time you can surf. Probably as consistant as Tamarindo. Some rip tide. Talk to locals. I did cut my heal on volcanic rock, I didn't wait , I just went in. Now I know where there is sand and where the rocks are. But it is mostly sand.

Frisco
Description:

Mostly beach break with shifting bar breaks. Better in fall/winter than summer. Fairly South-facing beach, so highly dependent on shifting winds. Decent surf overall, but it's better to go to Nag's Head.

Nags Head
Description:

Nice shortboard beachbreak with great bar-breaks in some areas. Bar-breaks aren't to steep but still strong, so they're nice for fun longboard rides. Breaks are generally better and steeper in fall/winter.
