duck diving.

i can duck dive my 6'2'' short easily, but when it comes to my 5'8' 20.5 wide, and 3'' thick fish, I keep getting tossed by waves when trying to duck dive. Does anyone else have problems duck diving their retro fish boards?

I don't really find duck diving my 5'8" Fish much different than my 6'6" shorty, so I don't really know what to tell you.

i have a retro 7'2 single fin that is 3 inches thick and wide at the nose but really skinny at the tail - its actualy kind of a weird board. I just find you need to really make comitted duck dives and drive as deep and hard as possible. I just shift my weight as far up to the nose as possible to sink and then drive down. I tried it in overhead waves and it seems to work fine.

yea, knowing the board helps, most boards are different to duckdive as well as surf, although it looks harder to duckdive a fish to me

i have a not very bouyant 5'11 shortboard which can be a bugger to duckdive just coz it sinks so easy. i often get too deep to soon and start coming back again at the wrong time.

I learned the hard way this weekend that it's hard to duck dive a softboard. I tried and got a smack in the face from it. Oops.
