Western Samoa

Anyone surf in Western Samoa? Might plan a surf trip there for next year and wondering if anyone had any words of wisdom, recommendations, or insights to add here. Might try to go during the wet season but it really depends on when I can get some vacation time and I know there's no surfing on Sundays.

Apia Samoa... Took two trips to Sa'Moana surf camp. The first in May 2005 and the second trip April 2007. We're planning on going back April 2008. The flight from LAX is 10 hrs, from Oahu International it's 5.5 hrs. Both trips we scored; 5 to 8 w/ 8 to 10 in 2005, and a consistant 4 to 6 in 2007. The camp is well run and very professional. Dinner meals are prepard by 4/5 star chef. We had 4 to 6 people surfing each boat trip, which is one to two trips a day. All equipment was well taken care of and no problems with any of the boats. The crew will take you anywhere you want to surf as long as the rest of the crew agrees to it. The staff at Sa'Moana are great. Can't say enough good about the place. To be honest with you, I can't think of any bad issues about the place. We caught Boulders at 8 to 10 ft one of the days, although it was pretty crowded... 20+ people in the water, although we never encountered another crowded day like that our entire stay. Usually it's 4/5/6/7 people in the water. The afternoon session at Boulders was just the four of us and completed perfection. See www.samoanaresort.com for proof. Go to surf reports and click on archives. Select April 2005 (27 APR - 2 MAY). The photo that is published is Cole, one of the guys on our trip. Check out the samoana web site... Not www.wavehunters.com, although that's the travel company that we used to book the trip. Anyway, have fun!

Thanks! I was looking at the Salani Surf Resort also. Do you know if there are any fun rights that aren't real top to bottom? I'm concerned about injuries since it's a 3rd world country. What other breaks did you surf?
