Dude.....screw elements. (Don't) find a friend and (don't) download CS2 or CS3 from bit torrent or something and then rock on. I really can't stand elements.

Any of the dSLR's are good realy, some are super, some are missing features, only one I'd realy avoid is the Nikon d40(x) because it lacks a lot I think is important.

Bugger, thats teh one i've been looking at, what is it lacking?

Got a 130p PDF file for Elements if anyones intrested, can send it via Pando

The D40 and d40x lack an in body motor, so a lot of Nikon and 3rd party lenses wont AF with it.

Anything AF-S from Nikon will be fine, anything HSM from sigma should work, but theres a lot that dont and there usualy the cheaper lenses or primes.

It also lacks mirror lockup, Depth of field preview, bracketing, decent shooting rates , one misses ISO100.

Ignoring that they produce excelent images but IMO there a little too cut down.

Edit :- so the result is if you want to keep AF you end up spending more on lenses.

Cost saving between the tamron 90 macro and the Nikon VR macro is enough to buy a D80 instead I think.

They've all been 'processed' to one degree or another.

Mostly levels, B&W conversion, typical sharpening and adjustments, couple have been croped. Nothing unusual.

Two have been (IMO) 'manipulated' , I've removed a chimney from 5 that was distracting and a bush on the right from 11.

what lens have you got at the moment matey :?:

you know if you can't afford a longer lens, you could always try a tele-converter, see if that helps a bit :!:

I'm using a 70 - 300 Sigma on a Canon Rebel XT (350d)

I got a 50 - 500 Sigma waiting for me to collect in the US next week.

I've been looking at teleconverters, but they seem to make the lens manual focus and think it may slow me down too much.
Does it also reduce the amount of light, which is an issue with the UK anyway?
I have a cheap 2x one on a cheap 800mm lens I used to take this.

Didn't have my tripod with me
But it's not one to be using for surfing pics, the zoom is a bit of a nightmare.

how far away are you from the surfers :?:

the tele converter should make too much of a difference on the light let in :!:

i really need to get a longer lens, as my longest is my 18-200mm unfortunately :( if only i could afford a super tele-photo.....

have you got the 500mm yet :D

One of these:

And when you can afford it, these lenses are sweet, for half way sensible money
