I know your new to the forum but after your last post
https://surfing-waves.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9335
it's very difficult to take this post seriously either.
There are plenty of cheap surfboards out there, go get your self a big one and do some surfing.

well just to answer it..

its not very easy if you have no experience.

i am a shaper, and have my own board company, 'HDSC'
and i started out by learning from Tim Bessell of Bessell Surf Boards..

so get ready for a lot of mess ups!

also check this video to help you out:

http://www.foamez.com/index.php?main_pa ... ucts_id=72

but i can almost guarantee your first board will be simply horrible.

My first surfboard had a couple of glassing issues but nothing you can't sort.

But the very first board i ever made was this kitesurf board. Shaped out of an 8ft minimal blank down to 165cm twin tip.

It is not as difficult as some make out and the best way to find out is give it a go.

Do your research first though as there are plenty of site out there to help.

It is a rush making your own boards for sure.

this is my first surfboard.

I am not saying its impossible or anything but someone who is not that good with their hands and hasn't surfed much will probably have a bad outcome.

my first board was awesome but i glassed it way to thin and snapped it and lost the nose :(

Postby buckthis » Thu Nov 08, 2007 2:51 pm

kitesurfer, that kiteboard is awsome! i want to do it, but how do you get the footstraps in the board? i want to make a cheap surfboard for my first try, but how low can the temperature be and still be able to glass? it gets to be freezing at night this time of year and the garage is not heated

Don't make surfboards because it's cheap, make them because it's fun or fulfilling or you want to have complete control over your board when you make it. Although keep in mind that you won't have complete control over it until probably 10 boards or 5 boards if you are really awesome.

i'll post pics if i get it done, but its just a small surtfboard i want to make( i have the size and shape i need) but i can't make it if its too cold to glass, ill have to wait till spring maybe? can you glass in the cold? i don't think you can even buy the kitesurfboard, so that would be my next project
