Which n.devon beach?

I'm going up to north devon for tuesday and wednesday for a surf, i'm wondering which beach/beaches to go to. I've been surfing quite a few times I'm probably still a begginer and my board is 7'2 custom.

I'm thinking of going to Saunton the first day and Croyde the next, but the low tide is around mid-day and i heard thats not good for begginers at Croyde?

Stay at Saunton or Putts/Wooly.
Croyde gets a bit hairy at low tide so if you want to surf it, aim for mid to high tide when it gets a little fatter. If Croyde is over 3ft you won't have any fun as a beginner.
Looking at the charts though I think its gonna be flat anyway.

You want to go to Bude instead ! Its only an extra 40 minutes and its empty also perfect waves .

I would stay well clear of Saunton etc .

What's wrong with Saunton? Nice mellow wave and if you don't mind walking down the beach a bit, empty waves.

I went to Croyde a couple of weeks ago and got there at low tide. Thrilling to watch, but more than a bit scary a paddling out.

Went to puts the first day - was alright, second day went to croyde and it was shite so went to woolacombe which was awesome

gotta love Woolacombe, i was there last sunday, and should be there this saturday, although i think Puts might be a better choice.....hmmm....

Dont get me wrong theres nothing wrong with the waves , it just got a bit busy and tend to be alot of splashing around in the shallows . I tend to go there when its nice and big when most find it difficult to get out back , then it is great as there is no muppets trying to catch a wave that you have already taken , where has surfing etiquet gone , there tends to be loads of posh people splashing around saying they surf thinking they own that streatch of sets , i get pissed off and aim at them .Bude seems more foucused around people that can accually surf and there are lots of beaches to choose from , excuse my spelling but i am not from private school !

noticed you were from somerset dude, which spots do you most frequently check out??
