What type of creatures have you seen whilst surfing?

Postby teaweed » Tue Oct 23, 2007 5:24 am

-sea turtle
-plenty of dolphins
-saltwater croc

I have yet to see a shark, even a small one. I'm looking forward to it, just so I can get over my paranoia.

Sharks, Dolphins, Sea Snakes, Fish, Urchins, Blueys, Jelly Fish... Yup, you pretty much name it...
Had dolphins scare the crap out of me yesterday and got stung by a bluey the day before.

Seen lots of seals, a few dolphins, the occasional whale a little further out as well as basking sharks, lots of torpedo diving gannets & plenty of different sea birds & also fish jumping out the water at times when they're being chased by a seal.

A fish landed on my board once.
Seen two sharks, a nurse shark hiding on the bottom of the reef, and a fair size mako shark, which was a little scary, got out soon after.
Went snorkling the other day a saw a big shoal of barracuda, and two turtles which were quite happy tp swim along with me, but I think thats cos they're use to the divers feeding them.
The mako encounter had kind of faded from my mind, now I have goose bumps...........................
