That just leaves the same question, owt could be drawn on a board, it's like a blank canvas. Tell me what i should put on it an i'll do it.

Go on, anyone, just tell me owt to draw, maybe summat you think'd look good on a board or just summat you think'd look funny...like a badger in a trilby or a monkey with a gun. Pleeeeeeease!

i've only just seen this topic. nice pics everyone.

i can't draw, or paint and I don't have photoshop or anything like that, but this is a pic I "made" which I want on my next surfboard (although a better version, obviously!) It's supposed to be Sunset Beach, Oahu. Can you see the likeness?

Have you posted them on the forum before RJD cos I'm pretty certain I've seen 'em before. They're great though! I wish I could paint!

Anywho, I was looking for a little advice, I'm going to start myself a little project, all I have at the moment is a theme for my work which is (in my opinion) emotive, amusing and pretty unique. I've been looking for something to focus on for a while and actually plan on doing (and finishing!) some works in this series. So...what I want to know, is were I to put my new pieces on the internet, what is to stop others stealing my imagery, ideas etc etc? If anything?

<3 art, Nice thread :D ! Can't believe I've only just found it! Good one Johnny.

Everyone seems to like Watercolor on here, you guys should definitely check out Steve Hanks' work...he is a MASTER! I would do crazy things to get my skills to his level. I think his site is stevehanksstudio.com. He's my favorite artist for sure, you won't believe it's watercolor and he was inspired by his surfing when he was a teen :goingsurfing:

As for me, I draw and paint all of the time, working on my painting mostly these days. It’s been a while for me and the sketchbook, but I always get back to it during flat spells.
Here are a couple things I had pre-saved on the pc, an old sketch and contour line drawing I did when I was landlocked for schoolies and away from the water:

your wife is good but does she paint any fiction? my thing is if its a real scene id rather just see it for myself. which is why photography isnt really an art unless you use it in a way to manipulate the subject or become fiction. i see a lot of paintings in hawaii like these that are really tehnically talented, but lack creativity. the ones that really strike me are when someone has the skill and plays with your imagination, memories, etc. i have a freind who makes paintings of ambiguous but cute characters and uses color to emphisize their cuteness but then has them doing something dememted that reflects society in some way like mass media or religion, and has 100's of these like 1 inch characters on 5 or more huge canvas'. to me thats more interesting because it makes me look more and wonder what the fleshin' is going on

having said that, i have to admit i wouldnt mind having that first on hanging on my wall. even though it doesnt inspire me it is visually pleasing. like a jack johnson song. theyre pleasing but not very creative.

anoher thing that bugs me is the straight forward in your face political approach to art. for art to be art i think it has to reflect something within the viewer and that stuff is just like someone holding a sign in your face that says impeach bush or something.
