Fun boards PRT2

well im dropping in on waves on my fun .. and ride down the line of a wave, but i cant carve or cut... was wondering if its possible to do it on a fun board? If so what do i need 2 do?
or will it be easier to just buy a short board?
my fun is a 7'6 x22"x3" im 6'3 and weigh 216lb

Im looking to get a short board next
what dimensions should i go?
I would want somthing that would be great for carving

And I would be using it to surf waist to chest wind chop" SOFLA gotta love it.

Any ideas?
