ebay issues

Postby Stone Fox » Wed Oct 03, 2007 4:49 pm

I've recieved a damaged item that I bought on ebay, the seller claims it was damaged in transit and wants me to take it up with the courier, but the item is quite heavy and there's no damage to the packaging so I'm pretty sure he's lying.

What can I do about this? If I register a complaint with ebay he's just going to say it was damaged in transit.

The thing is, it's quite a heavy piece and his idea of suitable packaging is a couple of bits of torn up newspaper, which doesn't conform to ebay guidelines. But if I try it on that angle what's to stop him saying, "I used bubblewrap etc, he's just thrown it away and lied about it" about me?

That old chestnut.

The contract is with the seller for postage as they took it out so it is up to seller to sort it out.

If you paid with Paypal (really the only way you should pay) you can open a dispute and paypal ALWAYS favours the buyer. Your pretty much guaranteed a refund.

Siad "favours" not "caves in to without any consideration" :)

Probably should have said "in your case you are probably gonna get a refund" - i'm assuming photo evidence of the packing and item conditions can be taken.

Buyer doesn't automatically win, but when the situation is questionable they usually go with the buyer.

Unfortunately :(

dont I know it :(

but i've been lucky and only had a couple of buyers try anything.

part of the reason i never leave feedback until the buyer has.
