Longboarding bigger waves.

Talking about 8-9 footers. How do you get out if you get stuck inside? Turtling seems ineffective, especially if the wave breaks right infront of you.I can ditch my board and try to dive DEEP, but i can't always do that because there might be others behind me, and it'll usually pull me back some anyway.

Do you just wait for a lull and paddle your ass off? Maybe i need to take a shorter board out. Any tips appreciated.

thanks

Get the rhythm of the sets before you go in and figure the lul.

Figure the rips and use them.

Make sure your paddling is the best it can possibly be.

Get really good at negotiating the whitewater you can't avoid.

I live in a state where there's no pointbreaks and virtually every break means going through the impact zone. If you can't make it out you probably aren't ready for it.
