Phisio's work on fixing your body

Psych's work on fixing your mind.

I'm not, but I need advice!

In march I went of a kicker sideways (don't snowboard drunk it's not clever) and landed flat on my right shoulder. It's never been right sinces and hurts when I raise my elbow above my shoulder, steer the car with the right hand, sleep on it, in the cold, twist etc.

I've finally got an apointment with the doc (it's only taken me 6 months), but any advice in the interim as I'm off on holiday at the end of the week!?!

Well I will assume that its not anything SUPER bad, like complete breaks, or dislocations of major bones/joints. Nor should it be anything muscluar, like bruising, ect, due to the legnth of time it has been sore. I would go for a dislocated, or possible fractured collar bone. Possible to have some torn tendons/ligaments aswell. The fall directly on the shoulder would put some insane stress on it.

My collar bone doesn't hurt...should it not hurt if it's broken?
Bones at the end of my shoulder hurt...could they be chipped?
Some times it feels muscular, other times it feels jointular (if thats not a word it is now).
I'm looking forward to seeing the doctor now! Roll on Friday!!

Not a problem, I was just hoping someone was, or knew a physio. Preferably within driving distance of London.

Sounds like you need an orthepedic more than a physical therapist right now, haha.

Get some x-rays and find out whats going on. Get it fixed before the real (snow) season gets going.

My head was cut and got that stitched ok, but after 6 weeks my wrist (which didn't hurt that bad at the time) is still painful when I put any weight on it or move it too much. What could be wrong with it?

Hmm...the scaphoid is on the thumb side of the wrist. But the pain I get is on the opposite side to that, kind of at the end of the ulna.

Okay, so I went to the Physiotherapist today and congratulations to all those who said it was to do with my collar bone!!!

Basically what she said (now I forget all the terminology so am going to use the terms from the picture) was that the "trauma" on my bicep from landing flat on it has pulled the humeral head down slightly out of place. This isn't a dislocation. This has meant that all the shoulder "complex" bones (4 of them) are out of place. The collar bone (clavicle on this picture?) is now slightly raised, and now does way more work than it should do. This causes the shooting pains I sometimes have. The dull pain on my bicep is due to this muscle having to work over time too.

That's what I think she said anyway. So I've been given an over sized elastic band to do some exercises with and told not to do any climbing for a while...........she never said anything about surfing, so I''m taking that as a "go for it".

Next time I get injured/ill I'll know to go straight to the experts......you guys!

:D
