Learning in 13ft waves

Is this not adviced for a novice? I took one look at MSW and headed out, got there and was instantly put off. It looked very messy with a strong cross shore wind +25mph. I only ask because since i bought my board i've only been out once in about 6 weeks. There's been nothing to surf, and i was itching to get out.

The forcast for tomorrow is better with less wind and 10ft waves at 9s

I just wanna get in and have some fun.
Oh, there were no other surfers out, which i took as a sign that they new best

They won't have been 13ft waves, the reading on msw shows have height whilst it's out at sea, it's much smaller by the time it hits the beach

if in doubt dont head out

chances are your not going to learn much in 13ft onshore slop. youll get frustrated. you wont get much change out of those qs type conditions unless your taj or gifted at punting on closeouts

bide your time until the conditions have calmed down. decent swell, slight offshore wind and a good period

if its actually 13ft then you wouldnt be able to learn in those waves. best to stay n watch. 13 ft is around double overhead. far too big for a begginner

Its a little calmer than yesterday, so i'm gonna head out. Even if i just end up sitting on my board riding the waves out i'll be happy

Get down before work, at lunch time, after work, after dinner.

If you live so close ditch seaweed and use your eyes. Seeing other surfers out is always a good indication to how good the waves are.

Sunday will be a good learner day 2-3ft and clean though dropping of later. Sat will be cross shore so might be ok.

My wife works nights as a VN so i look after our little'n at the weekend.

Had a great time last night, waves were HUGE so i just took the break back to shore. There was a massive rip, i even had my legs taken out by it! My first time out in proper waves and i managed to get up twice on an NSP 7'6 (didnt stay up long)

@ Sillysausage, are the waves better for learning at South Shields rather than Seaburn?
Just i've been told Seaburn can be a bit of a handful

havnt a clue, only just got up here 2-3weeks ago, used to live in wales, Shields has had some good surf since i've been here, gonna check it out today, but not sure if the wind will be much good

I live in the NE too. Tmouth.
Its lookin better tomorrow 4-ft which seems a bit better.
Should be surfable. Check the webcam though
