North Wales V Scarbrough

Ok so North WALES is looking flat for the forseable? so looks like i'm going to go over to scarbrough at the weekend for the first time, were are the best spots would i be better going Fily bay? am looking for a beach break realy

How cold is the sea? will i need my booty's / gloves

Any advise would be appreciated

I'm still in a 3/2 nothing else , last Weds there were ppl in with boots and gloves, depends on your neshness factor.

South bay Scarborough is a nice mellow beachie. Filey is not that good but a wind option though as is South Bay.

Cayton and N Bay pick up most swell and if the spectrals run true 23ft at 13 seconds its gonna be big. So Filey might actually be ok. The off shore scar takes a lot out of the swell.

Well its still really early to give any kind of accurate size guide but if things stay the same exposed beaches should be overhead so you could expect South Bay and Filey to still have some size to them as the swell wraps around maybe 3-4ft.

I think there may be a lot of South West surfers making the trip up for this one.

After saying all that i have probably jinxed it.

fook me looks like some proper groundswell comin at the weekend. could be some decent size around. whats the word on the wind situation? dont really trust msw for winds.

From MS looks like the east coast swell is droping, North swell uv jinxed it!!!! what site does every one use to predict the east coast i agree with surf dude MS is a bit shityx and not trust worthy

No, it's not dropping its just MSM prediction engine sucks. If you look at the forecast compared to the spectral data you'll see what I mean.

Scarborough, Northswell, I'm one of the SW'ters that's gonna make the journey. I guess if this happens you guys'll be on it?

Like i said still early days especially to be predicting size. Cleanish unorganised 4-5ft up there today.

This next swell still looks like it will build through Sat through to Tuesday. As its quite a long period swell for the East Coast tthere could well be some epic conditions at the better spots and early wind predictions are favourable.


Bewiderbeast you are now thw seventh SW surfer who has plans to head up. The N wales mob will too.

Probably Sunday and Monday for me at the mo.

One more swell on the East Coast and i will let the Atlantic High move out of the way for my Wales trip at the end of the month.

eye, waters not too cold up here in shouth shields, i went for a swim in a pair of shorts and i admit it was cold but not as cold as i thought (although it will be in say a month or so) can't wait for some swell, i need to get my board repaired tomorrow because theres a little crack but i havn't got any equipment to do it...anyone know a surfshop near south shields?

Av got to say, Scarbrough in my experiance has produced the best waves but the sea in north walse looks much cleaner and clear

suppose it all depends on the day what conditions are like, am starting to love both places

well its good to have 2 options, because the swell comes in from 2 completely different angles. the water isn't dirty up here on the east coast its just the waves bring up some stuff (not sure what it is) but when its flat its completely blue (well thats what i saw anyway)
