Do You Ever Get That Feeling?

Postby justloafing » Wed Sep 12, 2007 2:51 pm

Sometimes when I do go out by myself or even with friends. Usually by myself when the ocean is throwing knee high waves at me. If I have been sitting out there waiting for a wave for a little while SOMETIMES things seem to get real quiet. Seems like too quiet. My first thought shark and I pull my feet out of the water and instead of sitting on my board I lay down just to get my limbs out of the water. I do this until the feeling passes. Of course you would have to live in sharky waters which I do. Anyone else ever get a creepy feeling of things getting too quiet?

Nope, I've never pulled my feet out of the water because I thought there may be sharks about. I live in So Cal, where shark attacks are infrequent. Perhaps if I were on the Atlantic Coast, I'd be more concerned. Do what feels right for you at the time Brah, remember, keep your hands and feet attached to your body at all times!

That's the plan :D

and boco rio yeah that is the 5 senses at work. I guess I am talking about a 6th sense or something...................I've been watching to many Shark Week series. It has never chased me out of the water and I do realize that the chance are very small and really am not afraid of being attacked. Hmmmmmm I guess it is hard to explain.

What kinda puts me at peace is that they are always there, you usually just can't see them. Then one day they come up to the top of the water and you see them, and you freak out. Or the water is super clear one day and you see them there. They didn't bother you all the times you didn't see them. So why would they bother you when you can see them?

I was at Pea Island on the OBX back in July and it was really clear for some reason, we were sitting in about 8 feet of water, and I saw 5 or 6 throughout the session. Freaked me out at first then I just thought about what I said above.

Yeah I realize they are always there and what the chances are getting bit..slim to none and you can just about leave slim out of the equation. Just a feeling I get sometimes. Ohh and I am going to the OBX on the 24th and will most likley be surfing Frisco a lot, home of the hammer head or at least their breeding grounds. That does not bother me either. It is just sometimes I get an eerie feeling. As for the vids you guys posted they are awesome. I have seen the one about the surfer, man was he lucky. And Tomcat I will put that same thinking in mind. :)

I'm the same way. I was out at Marinland last week, and they were jumping everywhere. One landed on my board.

I got real tired all of a sudden, and decided to paddle in.
