Speaking as one who has upped sticks and moved to the other side of the world, just do it. Visas and work permits aren't that hard to sort out, you just need to be organised and work your way through it all methodically and bit by bit, and it's worth the hassle to put your life on a path that will make you happy. If it all turns to sh1t, nothing is forever, and you can always do something else anyway.
Getting depressed about your current situation is the first step on the path to sorting it out, you just have to take the next step.
Good luck to you Thaya, if you stay positive, things tend to turn out right.
PS - try the harbour at Shoreham Beach at low tide on a good SW swell - not up the side of the inner wall at Soldiers Point, but at Hollows, on the Eastern side of the outer wall. It can throw up a nice mellow longboard wave, and gets loads of protection from the wind.
