konzo surfboards?

hey on ebay i saw this shortboard with a swallow tail.
but the problem is that i've never heard of the brand konzo.
it's rather cheap, especially for their longboards, they go to $400 US for a 9'.
it's not epoxy like nsp's or bic's but idk. seems kinda fishy.

This surfboard is 100% hand made using top quality Australian materials: ''SURFBLAN'' foam, ''FGI'' resin. The deck is constructed with 6+4OZ American ''HEXCEL'' fiberglass cloths and the bottom with 6OZ.

I think anything on ebay is fishy personally i would be weary spending my cash on an uknown product

true.. that's why i'm asking people, because it says on his store thingy that he's been a member on ebay australia since 00 and i was wondering if anyone has bought their surfboards.

i'm just scanning for prices and i know for sure not to buy off ebay unless it's another seller that i can actually see and talk to.

Hey Dude, they seem ok, you should look at the other m8r8 ebay stores, they have sold heaps of boards to happy customers. Check there feedback.

I guess you need to make sure.... they have plenty of boards...good luck dude...

thats no indication if a board is good. Lots of new surfers are stoked on their nsps/bics doesnt mean they are good

Im not really saying they are good or bad as i havnt a clue only way youd know is if you surfed one.

Im just saying i personally would steer clear of ebay alltogether. If you are willing to fork out $400 for a board on ebay why not just add a little more and go to your surf shop. Much better idea

that was my problem. i'm buying my next board at a local surfshop. i was just looking around ebay for average prices for name brands. and then i saw m8r8, i was really stunned at how cheap their boards are.

My guess is that they are being made over in China. They may be austraillian blanks but the glassing from what I have seen is inferior quality.

Kinda figured as much. its a common thing with ebay sellers and internet stores in general

This boards are a very good price and a similar price to a new BIC sport But look a lot nicer.
Admittidly the glass work may not be up to the same level as a real nice custom but Is this worth getting over something like a BIC sport???

As I'm a beginner and fancy a 9 foot board.

Or what else would you recomend for a cheap priced started Board??


As I think the Konzo look a lot prettier as I've hired BIC sports...

Any advice will be appricated..

I hope this isn't too late. But I bought a Konzo 7'6" hybrid for my buddy during the summer on eBay for a total of $204. He was learning on my Becker Mike Gee 9'6" and wanted to go shorter. We both hate the Konzo. The build quality is crap. The glassing job is thin and fragile. I feel better paddling and surfing with my 6'5" than the Konzo. After this experience, I'm going to stick with my local shapers. Good luck!

This is good to hear.... I was thinking of getting a Konzo just cus of the sheer cheapness. I emailled them and said are they mass produced china imports and they totally avoided the question and said email us with the product u like and we will sell it to you directly.
If some thing looks to good to be true, it usually is!
I scanned their feedback, all is given it seems before people have surfed them i.e. saying great delivery. I then came across one where a guy says he bought 4 boards, and 3 of these 4 failed i.e. the glass shattered on the deck. M8R8 replied saying they refunded and improved quality control with manifacturer. I wont be buying one now. I would rather fork out as couple of hundred pound more for a tried and tested, well built board by a shaper who puts love and passion into it.

Me thinks Konzo is a no no!

my first board was a 7 10 bilbo egg which cost me £300 gbp. it was my first board was crap. any attempt to drop in from anything larger than 3 foot and the board would shoot through the water straight down like a broken torpedo. i snapped it the end. it had a rubbish nose rocker was the problem.
Her indoors was complaining and said I couldn't buy a brand new board so I had to get one from eBay. I settled on my beautiful frog green Konzo egg 7"2 brand new for £200
It's great! I've had it just over 6 months (been surfing 14 months) and its never let me down. dont go for an epoxy board JUST cos they are the new craze. this thing is rock solid. gets pressure dings on surface from standing but the rest is still perfect condition. my mate has a sunrider and a nsp fish and yet he still steals my board off me every session cos i'm getting better than him. its stable, easy to turn and damned fast (totally rips actually cos not that wide). it surfs easily on 2-3 foot waves and absolutely flies like a snot from a sneeze in big winter 7 footers. I love the thing and highly recommend it. you aint havin mine though so get stuffed

and dont complain about the build job of a board like this. at the end of the day it does its job nicely. i dont care if it looks cheap up close. when i'm in the water i look good and i have damn fun. and my surfin is getting better very quickly. all that matters is that you get the board that fits your size and abilities. never go below 7 foot when learning and try and get an egg. i'm 11 stone and the 7 2 is fine for me. good luck dude

I got a konzo and its great!! Super fast and only a few pressure dents on the deck. Its great

Having just bought a brand new Konzo board at a ridiculous price, I have surfed it for the last three days in very different conditions. I can tell you that:
the finish on the board is as good as anything else I've ever seen
the board is light and strong (put my knee into it big time and it came off with only a slight depression)
the board is the fastest paddling board I have ever owned
the board is manoeuverable, predictable and catches waves easily - took no time at all to get used to it
I'm really pleased with it in every way.
BTW, it's a 9'x22.5"x3" mal. I also ride a 7'3" thruster and an 8' 7S Super fish and it fills my need for a mal better than any mal I've had before.

Don't be one of these people who are afraid or suspicious of anything new or different. Surfboards are getting cheaper because of manufacturing efficiencies - times are a changing! And don't be afraid to buy on ebay!

i have a 6.1 fish of theirs which cost me £140 to my door. They are pretty good boards not fantastic but you get what you pay for. I wouldn't say they are the same as a £400 fish but it will do me fine for now

my first new konzo 9' epoxy surfboard lasted 3 hours before it snapped in half in 2-3 foot waves (paddling out wave crashed on board..snap!), yes it was replaced and the replacement lasted about 1 hour before the deck began to split in two different places.
the board was good to ride, was light and paddled well but i am down $550.00(board + postage) i still have the longboard but i am too afraid to use it in case it breaks..so i went and bought another board for summer and will only use the konzo in very small winter swell as i am sick of chasing this company (m8r8)for solutions.. and i fully expect it to keep splitting as i believe the epoxy outer shell is far too thin.
these are not value for money!!! spend an extra $50 at you boardshop,try before you buy, and save yourself months of refund/exchange dramas.
Surfing is meant to be fun, these "cheap" chinese boards have spoiled the first part of my 2009 surfing pastime, have put me off using ebay, made me fearful of snapping longboards and untrusting of all chinese products.

it just happened to coincide with the chinese oil tanker spilling its 230000+ of oil at Moreton island on all of my favourite surf spots from caloundra to noosa.
As australians/ earth dwellers we must put our environment ahead of commerce.

Most Chinese imports are done with a high gloss polish..WHY??? to hide all the sand throughs on the glass.You get what you pay for and Cr@#p will alwas be Cr@#p!!

I VERY nearly bought the konzo , lucky for me Im suspicious about life in general, so i went to the ebay feedback list and emailed a few (not the negative ones) the positive ones......asking how they where enjoying the board etc.

its amazing with these things how many people leave feedback JUST for the board being deliverd...not for the quality of it in use.

our of five i emailed i had three total negatives and a couple of mleh..its ok's

be warned...spend a little more and go for a local board or SAVE a little and get a pre-loved board off the second hand market... two of my main boards are off ebay and i love them both
