Florida Beaches

Postby Mikeonthewaves » Tue Aug 28, 2007 6:41 pm

I am planning to have a long weekend in Florida during September.
I have only ever been to the tourist spots of Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando. I was wondering if you can recomend any good beach areas for surfing.
How about: Cocoa Beach, Ft Walton Beach, Daytona Beach ?
Help!!!
Alternative would be to fork out some extra cash and go to Long Beach/Manhattan Beach CA.

daytona beach should be awesome, tbh all of florida due to hurricane season etc. me and a friend drove up to daytona from orlando about an hour drive and there was only a handful of surfers out waves were in the region of 6 ft but watch out for the current we got pushed down the coast reall far and didnt notice but theres life guards out there to war you of the pier etc.

I'm sure your get more valuable information from our friends over the pond though

It all depends upon the weather. There may or may not be a swell running. I like to surf in the Ormond Beach area because it's not crowded where I go. Anyways, even if it's small you have the pleasure of surfing without a wet suit.

Enjoy,

:D

I dig Cocoa Beach. If you head out that way (it's kinda in the middle of nowhere) make sure you stop by Ron Jons and pick up your car window sticker. I have four of them.

I'd recommend New Smyrna Beach or if you're headed up to North Florida, Jacksonville Beach/Hanna Park are pretty decent spots.
