unfortunately, I believe it is a pop out. However, this board has traveled well via airplane, and car. It has no dings or damage on it. I got it new for $285 and has served as an excellent beginner board helping me get medium sized waves and mushy-1 foot waves when I first started and on slow days.
The only thing I would add, is that I surf VERY infrequently because I live so far from the coast. Extended use may show different results!

hey im not sure if my board is a "pop out" or a knockout...i dont think it is....it has writing on the back on the stringer and from waht i heard that means it has been shaped by hand...
