A 6'10" IS a shortboard and if you can't turn it going shorter isn't going to help

^^^^Yes its a shortboard^^^^^

At your age and weight you could probably do with something smaller. I guess by pop out Bic/NSP or similar.
You need to be under 6ft really depending on your ability. But you should be able to turn the board your on now first.

well its a pretty big shortboard and its a pop-out and its reli wide and heavy with a rounded nose, the shop who sold it to me described it as a mini mal so i assumed it was, i was told the reason i found this board so hard to turn is because im so light so i thought getting a shorter one might help.

well, i also live in south wales. where to d'ya live? in the porthcawl area is 'odd surfboards' which for a shortboard plain white starts at around £325, JP in the gower charges about £350 for a plain white shortboard there are many more, but i can help more when i know where you live. (these are custom boards)

Link: Odd surfboards = http://www.oddsurfboards.com/

Link: JP surfboards = http://www.jpsurfboards.co.uk/

these are the two most well know but there are also more (many in west wales etc)

Make sure your back foot is over the fins, and just push down harder.
You'll be able to do it.
