what board for UK newbie?

Postby barrelled » Fri Sep 24, 2004 1:17 pm

Ok, after spending a fantastic summer in Hawaii i've got the bug. I want to buy a short board for use in UK but not sure of optimum length, width etc.... I'm 65Kg and 5'10....any suggestions (i was thinking a 6'10" board but still not sure of width)

Oh yeah where are the best deals found in uk??

well if you are just starting out, i would go for a long board, not the short board. even if you go with the short, i would say the wider the better for starting out - at least 20-22 inches wide would give you a fun ride. i dont ride a short board though, so dont hold me to it.

if you can pop up, bottom turn and ride the line then get a fish the waves are no where near as perfect here, most of the time youll be riding 2-3ft onshore mush that you will struggle to ride on a shortboard, you can pretty much ride any thing on a fish
