That first Putts picture?!?!?!

Anyway, found the forum because I'd stopped surfing for about a year and really missed it. No longer had a board, was miles from the coast and it was about christmas so in the absence of being able to surf I thought I'd read about it. One quick search later and here I was! :D

My first post was in the "Introduce yourselves here" and my second post was asking for good learner spots.

As for why I hang around? Because until I came here I had no-one to talk to about surfing! :D
Also, the conversation can be pretty good (some random topics) and the peeps on the forum are all ace.

Because seems so anonymous.

Problem is that you can find so much info about a person on the net. If you google your user name check what you can find out about yourself

.. its kinda the same principle as going to confession !! .. the guy/girl listening has no personal connection to you and therefore will (or should) offer completely unbiased advice or lend a sympathetic ear without judging what he or she is hearing  ..sometimes it helps, sometimes not ..but the main benefits for both will never change .. " both have the option to ignore, unplug and walk away  8)

***holler***

Sat in an office with the sun shining through the window, in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Wishing I was on a mountain with the sun shining on me instead. But only a day and a half to go until it's the weekend....

Why have you hung around?

I just typed 'surfing' into google and then found this site, went through the surfing lessons section, it proved to be a good site so I bookmarked it and the found the forum. Lurked for a bit and then realised everyone was friendly (if not a bit odd  ) so decided to register.

first post: https://surfing-waves.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6408

Hung around because :

- Everyone really is friendly. No-one in my usual big group of friends surf so this is the only place I can talk about surfing (or anything else for that matter! )with like minded people. Ive met and talked to some truely great people from this site (whom some of which I now consider friends) who take me for who I am now without the pre-judgement that you get from meeting someone who already knows about your past/you through someone else...get my meaning?....nah, me neither!

- I have learnt/still learning the theory of surfing and love sharing my experiences of practicing that theory with people on this site.

-I have learnt stuff about worldly stuff I had never considered before on the deeper chats that sometimes happen.

- Was called a 'regular', never been 'regular' in my life - was kinda nice :D

- Some of the people on here are very, very funny and brighten my day.

-This is the closest I can get to surfing when I cant actually go (which is far to often!! ). It seems to have a massive affect on my life which I hadnt realised until a conversation in the office today between me and a non surfing but understanding colleague whose friends are mostly surfers:

"I feel shite, Im sorry but I really do, what is the fecking point of it all?!?! I wanna cry, I wish someone would walk into my life and just cheer me up cos I cant shake this off, it's been weeks now"
"Ive seen these symptoms before, you need to go surfing dont you Sara?"
"Yes, I really think I do"

  hasnt even been a year of surfing - didnt see that one coming

Googled for a forum, a few hours after my first session, mostly to babble about how crazy-great it was. (Also tacked on a question about the solid pressure on my, uh, tackle.

It seems like just last month - no, wait.
Um.

Since then I've looked at suggested hyperlinks, location tips, hardware tips... and you've saved me from asking a few st00pid kook questions in real life. Much appreciated.

Driftingalong - that pic is SWEET. Thanks.
