Haha, you're getting those hawaiian tattoos then!

I heard somewhere that the south shore has had some decent surf recently? Might be me just imagining stuff :D

yes, there has been some decent surf, but when i went to makapu'u and sandy beach i didn't dare go in as i was fairly certain i'd come out with a broken neck. i've never seen a shore dump like it in my life  so extreme. it was a gazillion times worse than anything i've ever seen.

the only problem i've had surfing is having to wait for Alex or Josh to be off work/ finish work so we can drive somewhere, otherwise I have to walk with my board or else pay to rent one at another spot.

thinking about seeing how i go tomorrow, but i don't want to speak too soon. they said it's likely to dislocate again with another knock unless i keep it strapped up, but I can't surf or walk if it is  i might wait a few more days to be on the safe side.

i'm enjoying being out here doing loads of stuff even though i'm not surfing right now :D going out in a shark cage next week, and then off to another island before i go home. even if i manage to enjoy (?) jumping out of a plane i think the highlight of my travels will always be pipeline.

Wow, you sure are putting your bad luck to the test, skydiving, surfing pipe, shark dives.....Sounds like a ton of fun...I am kinda jealous.

Had a (bodyboarding)mate who went to 'sandy beach', tho took him a while to find it, all the locals knew it as Neckbreakers...

Said it was a little on the harsh side...:D

Mate that waves like 200m long, you'll never fit it in your bedroom!

I'm in Kauai right now but I got my photos developed yesterday so here's some pics of the 2nd time I went to pipe (the first time I didn't have a camera as i wasn't expecting to surf i thought it would be flat  ). The waves were smaller than when I first surfed it, but I'll never forget that experience as long as i live! At least you can see there WERE waves and people surfing! I couldn't wait to get in :D

Have you heard the "official" Kauai wake up call yet??

Made me feel like I was on a farm, roosters crowing at the crack of dawn.

Thaya, I have been to the North Shore before, but didn't Surf Pipe. I have friends that live over there, and they took me to a few other spots on the N. Shore. caught some realy fun, and big Surf while I was there. I also caught the Reef, and a board on the Head at Pupalea (it's just before Haleiwa, there is a big Tiki right at the turn and then..... oh wait I was told I would get killed if I gave away the location LOL. I didn't Surf Pipe because it was BIG the days I was on the North Shore.......

To see those Waves in Person was like nothing I have ever witnessed. You can literly feel the Wave EXPLODE from the Beach. The ground shakes from the force of it. The crowd factor is ridiculous also. But you can tell thier are guys out there blocking for the locals. A line of Surfers keeps the new guys from catching the set waves. Definately a pecking order out there on a big day like that.
I also Surfed waikiki, and it was a lot more managable. There was a 4-6 foot swell running just abou the entire time I was there. I would get up at the butt crack of dawn, run out behind my Hotel, and Surf till 9-10 when my Wife would wake up, and we'd go do touristy/honeymoonish type stuff all day.

If you get a chance, Thaya, go to the Polynesian Village that is to the West of the North Shore, on the Kam Highway. It is sooooo worth spending the day there.
