Over the falls and came down nuts first on the rail of a longboard. Didn't take my wettie off for ages, I was scared my plums were gonna fall out.

probably having a double overheader land on me thus sending me to the bottom of a reef and getting dragged along it in the spin cycle. Not Fun

Got my leash caught on a groyne. I was on the same side as my board, but a rip was pushing me into and almost under the groyne and every so often a big bloody wave would smash on me yanking me this that and the other way. I managed to eventually throw my board over and clamber over myself.

Not so much a wipeout but jeezus I thought I was gonna die!

Had a simular experience.

went out on a big day and used the rip current by the pier ended up paddling into a huge pile of kelp and couldnt move right by impact zone  . The current kept washing me close to the pilons + i couldnt duckdive the oncoming sets as the kelp was to thick  . Fortunatly one big wave came and washed me free - felt utterly helpless and swallowed a lot of water - didnt end my session though but still will never forget that experience

Kitey you TART tell us the truth, or I'll take all your pink paint away.

I have so many wipe outs to choose from, I can't make up my mind which one to use!

The worst beating I got was about a month ago. We've had a crazy run of swell this Winter in New South Wales. I was duckdiving a large set when mid duckdive my board slipped out of my hands. I didn't get deep enough and the wave hit me point blank. The swell was at 16 second interval so this juice had power. I heard my neck go crack and I got the full wrag doll treatment. The hold down was minor though. But it was an eye opener as to how powerful long range swell can be.

I've never really had a bad wipe out in the true sense of the term. When I surf a wave I rarely get worked if I fall off, except for when I miss-time a take off. My worst hold downs and beatings are during duck dives when the clean out sets hit.

That was deliberate. I was practising my big wave dismount so it doesn't count!

Bogged rail and went headfirst into sandbank which was in 1 foot of water with legs sticking up in air. Cracked nose and bleeding, man it was embarrasing but would have looked piss funny to anyone watching. lucky I didnt hurt my neck.

for hit in the shoulder by the fins of my board a few years ago, didn't cut the wetsuit but my shoulder and arm went numb. When I crawled out of the water despite there being no damage to the wettie I somehow had a fin shaped hole in my shoulder pissing blood!

had my first nast one the other day, tried some steep waves but my board decided to nose dive and dig into the sand and the wave threw me ontop on my fins. managed to rip a nice sized hole in my wetsuit and cut my leg tho
