Advice

Postby Jodi » Thu Aug 09, 2007 8:21 pm

I am total new to surfing, but have a lot of free time available now and have always wanted to surf.

I was raised in land locked country and have moved recently to the coast so thought now is a good time to take it up.

Basically I am looking to get all the gear that I need to get started asap.
Any recommendations on a board, wet suit etc, and any other things I might need.

Thanks Jodi

Hi Jodi and welcome! :D

There is loads of info on old posts - search function or the 'surfing lessons' part pf the forum and throughout the main site.
I recommend Cskins for wetsuits, some find them a little pricey but its worth spending the money on a good wetsuit. Cskins seem to be sized smaller than usual dress sizes....no! its not that I am denying my chubbiness - even the guy the the shop they were sized smaller!!

try renting a board for a bit and see how you like it! otherwise a minimal should see you set.

Dorset and NY - interesting combination....dont happen to work for a large US bank in bmth do ya?

Good luck and have fun!

No work means I have to be in the US, but I come back home when ever I can.

I have a look at the suits thank you.
