There's a bit of a theme developing today....
Devon? Sunday? Yes - very rideable.

Should be quite nice, but winds turning onshore and stronger during the day. Bigger the further west you go.
Sunday is going to be hideously crowded at all the well known spots.

Oooh, so true! Croyde was packed out today! Not to mention the hideously slow moving traffic through Braunton to Saunton!

devon surfable?

Postby surfdoubleoverhead » Tue Aug 21, 2007 4:23 pm

i have grew up surifng woolacombe, and the first few years 2000 - 2002 were quite good, most days 3 ft and clean, but then from 02 to present, it has been either flat as a board or choppy as hell. I surfed cornwall this year - fistral, trebarwith, perranporth, polzeath, etc, and i would advise going to surf cornwall. Devon beaches are to much beach breaks, and there are no point breaks or reef breaks - apart from lymouth but that does not break that often.

yea it may break occasionaly but then you have to fight off the locals, and even if you are a local from woolcombe you find it difficult, so guys from out of town are gonna xxxxx it

croyde is overcrowded when the sun starts shining, let alone a bank holiday.

croyde + sun + bank holiday = NIGHTMARE :x

the shoreline is an absolute pony when its busy, but if you get right out the back, its so so much better!!!

Scotland.
Its about the only place that'll be working without crowds this weekend.

No, seriously, if I was planning a trip this weekend, I'd be hopping on a plane and going as far north as I could.
