Hi will be in hawaii december for bout 3 - 4 weeks and on a tight budget(after being round indo and europe), need to find really cheap acommodation on the north shore, ive had mates go over before and they got things like homestays or something, any one know how to get really cheap accomodation there

there are a couple of hostels on the North Shore that are cheap. You can also camp on Hawaii for free with a permit. All the camgrounds have showers and restrooms with flush toilets. I camped for 11 days a couple of years ago. No problems and met plenty of travelers.

no camping on North Shore Oahu as far as I can remember. Maybe Haleiwa?? Try Breks, a hostel right on Sunset Point... the bonus here is you can walk to Rocky Point!! 8)

Hi
Surf House in Haleiwa is first class - theres camping and dorms that are cheap and its only a minutes walk from the shore. The only other decent (safe) camping that I found was by Malaekahana Beach just round on the windward side (real nice camp site right on a great beach - good surf).
