Wave height to a surfer is equivalent of length of fish caught by fisherman. You have to subtract at least 20-30% of the claim to be accurate.

I think realistically only a 3 footer for me as well (wave size not fish). But I don't think I've gotten up on an unbroken face yet, haven't been able to get to my feet until I'm riding on the bubbles! But I did manage to be going fast enough once and turned the board out of the white water and got back to an unbroken face on the remaining baby sized wave before I eventually stalled it out (the wave was probably only 1.5 - 2 footer at that point though).

Oh it might be worth mentioning that you yourself should not be the one measuring the wave height as its impossible to tell - for a more accurate result it must come from someone else - another surfer -

Ive had days when i could have sworn i was surfer 10fters only for someone to point out it was more like 6ft

Double overhead. Don't think I'd be that brave these days though.

Well, on the paddle out my board was almost vertical (scary - thought I was going back over!) and it was certainly well over my head and even scarier on the way back in. Best guess would be 8-10 foot (face).....
