4am in the summer, i would go earlyer in the winter, just sunrise is later, the earlyer you go, (usually) the less of a crowd there is

Earlier the better usually for avoiding crowds. In the summer on the Atlantic, usually its glassier in the early morning, as the humidity and the winds pick up as afternoon approaches. So if you want the smooth ride, earlier is better. I live about 3 1/2 hrs from the shore so we usually leave home at 4-5am and are in the water between 7:30-9am. Surf for 4 hrs or so and make it home by dinner time. Hard day at the job! :P

the earliest ive woken up for surfing is 5: 45 Am, but it doesnt get light till 6 something. Most of the dawn patrols i go on, im in the water by 6 30, it takes a half hour to get to my beach.

in winter i surf at 10:30 am usually. the dawn patrol are gone and most people are at work / school so i can end up having most the beach to myself :wink:

In summer it makes no real diff always crowded :(

Leave home at 4am, get to saunton at 7am which is the closest decent break. Or boscombe 50 mins in the winter.

Dawn!!!! I love Surfing when the Sky is still a medium Blue, with reds, and golds in it. Plus most Surfers are lazy, and party too late to get up that early (around here anyways) .

Six in the morning,surf for two hours.Then come out at eight,change and then have a full English breakfast. "Great" :)

I live 1 block away from the beach, so i wake up around 9, put on my rashgaurd, grab my wax and board then walk 3 mintues and im in the water around 9:30.

Before breakfast, depending on when I have class. There's less of a crowd and the tide is usually in....
