Best Surfing in California (beginner)

Postby Magdalenka » Sat Jul 28, 2007 8:08 pm

Hi, my friends and I are planning a trip to California. But can anyone tell me where is the best place to stay/surf? "beach town" with down to earth people not yuppies.

Thanks
Any info would be great.

California is a BIG place. Where are you going? North? South?
IF south, I would suggest San Diego- there are dozens if not hundreds of breaks from OC south into Mexico. LA/Ventura has a few good good breaks as well.

San Diego is a good place to go.

I suggest looking up trestles.
There is also Huntington Beach and Newport Beach, as well. Depending on when you go, there may be a heavy crowd.

For other spots, check out http://www.surfline.com/travel/index.cfm?id=4716#2081

I'm not sure exactly where you're going, but you'll get some good info there, including some good spots to eat.
