Which way ?

Postby fandango » Thu Jul 19, 2007 4:11 pm

Hi all,

Which way round do you put your surfboard on a roof rack ?

Nose at the front of the car ?

Or tail and fin end at the front of the car ?

Have looked on the net and found people do it both ways !!

Which is best ?

ive heard that you should put the nose at the front of your car as this is the most fragile bit of the board. Unless you have a very good board bag that would protect it from stones flying up from the road.

Its the way I do it but I only have a BIC board. Once I get a proper one it'll go tail first, youve already lost so much of the aerodynamincs of the car I dont spose it would make much more difference.

lol any boardbag would stop stones, unless a huge brick came flying up? thats what they're made for isn't it? maybe i'm wrong, not sure, but i personally put the nose at the front

I always put the tail up front, that way the fins can catch it if it ever gets loose on the straps.

I was gonna buy one of those Old Guys Rule shirts this past weekend, but never got back to main street in Huntington because I was surfing instead.

As for board direction - tail first.

Haha

I put it nose first in case the straps come loose so the fins catch when I break!!

You're never comfortable when your pride and joy is on the roof, my hand always snakes out the window every mile to check it's still there.
