Hiring surfboards in North/SW France and conditions there

Postby upman » Thu Sep 16, 2004 1:19 pm

Hi there,

I'm going with my wife and a friend of mine to Normandy for surfing from 25-28.9.2004. Because we've never been there before may anybody help me with:

- what is the best place for beginners/bit intermediate
- is it possible to hire there surfs. swimsuits and so?
- how much for hiring/dey based
- where to camp? Some nice/cheap/clean campsite?

I'm still bit confused if Normandy is worst to try or isn't better to go to Biarritz (we've been there last summer). What about weather conditions? Any web-link for instant weather forecast/web camera would be nice.

Thanks for your advice friends

Go staright to Biarritz my friend. This time of year it blows up! Beside the Pro tour is ther and it will be quite a happening scene.

The variety of waves from Biarritz to Hossegor goes from beginner to pro level so you are good to go. Just came back last weekend and the water is still nice and warm. :)

Forget Normandy

Here is VVF last Saturday, one of the breaks in Biarritz!!

plenty board rentals too... have fun!

Cheers mate, I would like to go there but it takes 18 hours by car to get there so because of that we're thinking about 13 hours trip to Normandy.

Do you thik that is possible to get some boards there?
Cheers

There are plenty waves in the region when there swell in the water... if you wanna look for board rentals you might want to try Shark Island surf shop close to the town of Dieppe.

The potential for good surf is there. Still I highly suggest Biarritz really worth the drive during the month of Sept... if you have the time.

Have fun and enjoy the ride!

Cheers mate, I'll try to go to South as much as possible because I really like Basque waves. Anyway, I must change minds of my wife and friends what could be bit difficult:)

Thanks for your advice!
