If you do reveal your true feelings to her while drunk or in an otherwise abnormal or altered state of mind (incl. unwarranted happiness, ridiculously deep depression, brain fever, etc.), DO deny and disavow all statements the next day.

At this point, I would like to introduce The DCWP (pronounced Duh-c-woop) Rule. This rule is inviolate, cannot be argued with, and can be used in a number of circumstances. This particular example is a classic DCWP moment. Once the DCWP Rule is invoked, by law the object of platonic affection must never refer to your drunken ramblings, and must never base any of his/her future behaviour on your misguided statements.

It is only The DCWP Rule which allows us to maintain our fragile hold on World Peace (Subsection: Relationships) and, as such, is far more important than such irrelevances as the ten commandments, the law, or the constitution. However, it has to be used with respect as The DCWP Rule is a powerful thing; do not use it lightly.

I've known it to work backwards several times . I've sort of known a girl but not very well, got pretty drunk together(but not on every occasion), had a good sesh , followed by a slightly awkward week or so and then become solid platonic friends(with the odd relapse in some cases!). Everybody's happy !

Personally, I can't help but think about what it might be like to bone any decent looking woman I come across. If they're married, it's platonic. If they aren't, I am, so it's still platonic.

Well, if it's a gal you've convinced yourself you'll never have, I wouldn't worry to much about it. Just enjoy the view. If you've got a chance at her, I say go for it. You're only young once.
