This is now getting scary

This whole bomb plot is freaky.

Doctors, Lab technicians. Not your average suicide bomber.

I'm sorry but a Medical Doctor and a Lab tech cant manage to blow something up???

Something STINKS about this, they should both have enough rudimentary knowledge of science to cause a major incident, not just set a car on fire, 8 year olsd where i used to live can do that.

Quote me if I am wrong but did not the 911 attackers spend months training to be pilots before the ars3 h0l3s attacked the US so why not doctors and lab technicians.

Another point is that because we as so desperate for doctors here in the UK surely it is only logical to call yourself or pretend to be a doctor in order to get an easy way into our country.

Only thoughts and not grounded in fact.

You'd have to be realy realy good to fake being an MD now in the UK, way to many high profile fakers in the past, lots of checks now, wouldnt say it couldnt happen tho.

Daft thing is theres a stack of unemployed doctors in the UK now because of the foreign imports?!?!

No there isnt, there's a 'small' number of temporarily unemployed doctors due to the ridiculous IT system the interfering government tried (and failed) to put in place. Nothing whatsoever to do with immigrants.

Do they have the Daily Mail in New Zealand?

I think you'll find there are a number of juniors who cannot find suitable employment, or resedencies within either their chosen field or locality. But there are also a HUGE number of foreign staff now being employed by the NHS, from consultants, doctors down to HCAs.

And the responsibility, it seems, for checking these people lies with the employers, not the immigration or security services.

Someone, somewhere, made a balls up on that front - but the NHS's desire to 'quick fix' everything at a cut price in order to meet government targets is a factor.

Add that to this country's open door policy and the desire to be PC (to the detriment of everything else) and you have a recipe for disaster.......

Your insinuation that the previous reply was racist sort of makes the point that people are quick to accuse anyone who even questions such policies....

Yes, which is due to the IT problem.

I didnt accuse anyone of racism. But the 'blame the immigrants' attitude is much too prevalent. And the tone of this thread isnt particularly inclusive.

I didn't mean it to be that way.

I meant its scary as the people you would want to trust the most are the Doctors, Nurses, well all medical staff.

My missus is a Sister and does her job purely for the care of the patients, to think that people are training to be medics in order to gain entry into the country to cause terror is scary.

They may however have become radicalised over here which is just as troubling.

Personally after reading all the posts in this thread I got no sense of any "'blame the immigrants' attitude.

Tend to agree - but so is the :

Do they have the Daily Mail in New Zealand?

reply, inferring racist overtones to the reply. Anyone over here knows the phrase 'Daily Mail Reader' is used to imply that the person is, shall we say, 'intolerant'........

I also work in the NHS and can't understand why there are so many imported doctors whilst juniors can't get a post? OK - major blame lies with yet another government cock up (expensive one at that) with the IT system, but still.......

And if you visit places like nursing homes, you'll find the a huge majority of staff there (nurses and HCAs) can't speak english well enough to give a clinical handover should it be required, let alone speak to the patients who they are looking after. But they are probably cheaper to employ.........

And you've got other HCPs leaving the country in droves because of poor morale, crap pay (for some - whilst others get more pay for doing less, and the majority of management get overpaid for wasting even more money), the old 'meeting the targets but missing the point' thing, etc, etc

I'm afraid we are still the only country in the world with such an open door policy - DBBB, you should know that only too well. The hoops you're having to jump through to go overseas are well in excess of those required to get into the UK - and if you're finding it easier to get a placement on the other side of the world than one in your own country, then that sort of speaks for itself...........

BTW - no offence is meant in this post, and I wouldn't want it degenerating into a pissing contest :D

Luke - I'm guessing '252' isn't your IQ??

I think SOME of us may have been trying to have an adult discussion - when you've reached said age, maybe you can come back??

Luke - if I misinterpretted your post, then I apologise.

Sar - no, everyone is entitled to whatever opinion they want - I just didn't want the thread turning into some political pissing contest.

Personally, I hate all newspapers and the media in general, as they wouldn't know 'the truth' if it came up and bit them on the arse.
