Epoxy Shortboards

Postby Dec » Tue Jul 03, 2007 11:31 am

G'day,
Right, a few of you know that i've got into the expensive habit of snapping my boards. I've been through 3 in 2 weeks  , and it's kinda cutting into my pocket money  .

So, I was thinking, is it worth investing in one of those tufflite/epoxy shortboards? I mean, not an NSP or Bic, like a decent made CI/Watercooled.

Cheers
Dec

Dec i've just got a Tufflite, not been out in anything bigger than head high yet, and it was pretty mellow. I've seen a couple of busted ones but not as many as PU.

Being where you are you got to get a Firewire imported from Oz.
If Taj can win on them they must be ok, and his boards didn't snap in Chile like a lot of the others did who weren't on them.

.

I was in a Firewire dealer in NC on the weekend. It was myu first look at them, the guy in the store would set it on the ground upside down, and stand on it. It would bend like crazy, with no issues.

Oh yeah. They can bust. That's for sure.

A lot harder to break but certainly still dingable/breakable.

Yea, I remember reading something about them in Surfermag. They seem a tad pricey though. It's the equivilent of getting one shaped. ($700 US)

With all due respect I'd suggest finding a good composit custom shaper and get them to build it.

Bert Burger, the original technical inspiration/direction behind Firewire, has parted ways with them.
