Knee damage from longboarding

Postby aircooledmatt » Mon Jul 02, 2007 6:52 pm

Hi all,

A year ago I had a fall skiing and damaged the ligaments on the right side of my knee. This didn't stop me surfing, as I'm happy to put up with the pain if it means I can surf. However, a lump has developed on the inside of my right knee on the bone. I'm wondering if it's from lying on my longboard while paddling and then banging it when I flex to pop up. It seems to be getting worse.

Just to make it clear, I like to think of myself as a pretty competent surfer and surf all over the world, so before anybody asks, no I don't get on to my knees before I pop up!!!!!!

I'd really appreciate anyone with any advice or anyone with similar knee problems to let me know how they are dealing with it as I'm really worried it's going to stop me surfing soon.

Thanks all, Matt. 8)

Knobby knees are not an uncommon surfing related problem. I would however recommend you speak with your Dr. Good luck, keep the stoke, see you in the lineup!
