Have you managed to save some pennies?!!
You'll have such a great time! July/August is a gorgeous time to be in Hawaii.
If you make it up to the North Shore be sure to jump off the rock at Waimea Bay!! Its fun!!!

I know I know, I'll be surprised if I make it back in one piece, but fingers crossed I'll be ok. I still want to try and surf the north shore as it's supposed to be very mellow in the summer. We'll see. I'm more bothered about sharks than wiping out!

This time of year its more flat than mellow but you never know! May get a bit of an early swell but some of the more famous beaches can become pretty board snappingly shore dumpy when its small!
I think some of the breaks around Haleiwa work in small swells but don't qoute me on it!
Nothing beats chilling on the north shore with a cold beer watching the sun go down!
If there's no surf the snorkelling is pretty good around there - try shark bay, turtle beach and three sisters (I think that's what its called).

sharks cove and turtle bay.

you should just go to hanauma bay for snorkeling though. turtle bay is hard to find unless youre staying at the resort, those bastards.

surf is flat on the noth shore and on saturday the south is supposed to get up to 10ft faces.

Two of the best guides are i have found are "Oahu Revealed", and the top 100 things to do, this is a magazine style, so has lots of advertisements, but also compact list of lots to do and some rather off the beaten path/not traditional touristy things, like crashing a wedding. It's actually pretty easy to crash a wedding, just walk along a beach around sunset, there's usually at least one wedding going on, we found ours at kaanipali beach on Maui though, don't know which beach is popular for weddings on Oahu.

hmmmmmmmm too many things to mention! On my mind right this second:

Gotta stock up on makeup (essentials only) and toiletries
buy new undies and one more casual summer dress
buy camera film for old beach camera
print out important emails
write down phone numbers, addresses etc
change some £ into $
get enought £ out for taxi's, airport food etc
get my hair cut, or atleast trimmed,
get my dental checkup done the day before I go
decide which bag to take
re-write (for about the 10th time) my list of things to take. Still debating whether to go minimalistic or whether I should take a nice dress, high heals and matching handbag all just for one/two nights out
find out where bus station is to get to heathrow airport
print out map of heathrow, LA and honolulu airports (I got lost easily  )
finish loads of work before I go, so i don't panic when I get back.
Phone all my friends for the last time before I leave.

and plenty more... feeling a bit stressed now!

ONLY 10 DAYS TO GO :woot: :surfing: :goingsurfing:

you dont need a map for the honolulu airport. its not big. remember my cynical words "the prostitution of hawaiian culture begins at the airport".

LA airport is well orginized.

Thaya - you can go minimalistic when going abroad and then buy stuff at the airport a bit cheaper....and then when you're out there, if you just want to have a walk around and see a bit of the town, you can shop, I did that in Oz and its such a great way to get a summer wardrobe. Especially with the exchange rates being so good the moment

Well I've actually done most of that, with the exception of the hula lessons and the horseback riding wasn't on a rainforest trail. You gotta go to the volcano in the evening, as it gets dark, you can see the lava flows more clearly as they are glowing. Hanauma bay seemed a bit overrated to me, you have to get there at the right time in otder to even get in.

sd cali you went snorkeling at daimond head? nobody snorkels there.if youre going to snorkel at DH, make sure you dont get sliced by my fins, suckas.

i think hanauma bay is the best thing for inexperienced snorkelers.
