In search of a wave.........

Postby Surfing-Innovation » Sat Jun 23, 2007 2:06 pm

OK, looks like all my normal haunts are going to be flat for the forseeable (can't you just tell I've got a week off!! :x )

So - have board, will travel - what about somewhere on the east coast?? Any chance of a wave there early next week??? Prefer a mellow longboard break, but will consider anything........

(Oh - sorry, this is the UK I'm talking about.......)

:D

the east coast looks like being pretty good next week. ill be around on tuesday and weds. south bay is usually a mellow wave although it does take a lot of the size of the surf. this swell should get in though. if the winds are like msw say its going to be then it will south bay at scarborough for me.

Yep looks like another good week ahead, there are people on it today even though its about a foot. So when this swell kicks in on Monday it should mean there has been two solid weeks of decent East Coast Swell by the end of it.

If the winds stay the same its deffo time to seek shelter so South Bay or Caves at Sandsend are your best bet Tuesday.

After that should be ok everywhere as the winds start to drop. Not totally sure when i'm on it yet, but i'll be around somewhere.

Edited as I've just checked in my Wave Finder book and know where you're on about now!!

Liking that Caves place as the book says it's a mellow L hander - ideal for me and my goofy stance.........

What about Cayton?? Worth a shot?? Failing that, anything with a long left would be cool - although I'll surf right handers if I really have to

Oh - and being a wuss, I guess it's still cold in that North Sea of yours then.........

depends how long you're around for. if the winds stay as they are forecast then cayton will be blown out id guess. caves has some shelter from the north west winds. wednesday should be better as it looks like lighter winds. should be quite a few options if theres not too much wind.

you just day tripping or sticking around for a bit?

Just day tripping I think (staying over would only get the wife's nagging head on!!). Still, it's a 6 hour round trip, so I'm tempted to sleep in the car.........

If your day tripping i'd wait till the back end of the week.

Cayton isn't really a long board wave, on this it should be fast and hollow, if its surfable, any wind and its crap, no wind its one of the best beachies around.

Just about as flat as my board on this side of the "pond". I went out in shin high barrels yesterday morning.

Yeah, looking good Eastside next week. Winds still changeable tho, checked the charts this morning and it said 11ft and 1mph offshore for Monday evening here. Wet myself as little. Thats changed now tho to 28mph onshore godammit. Still, looks like sheltered spots on Tuesday then normal breaks Wednesday/Thursday with some nice offshores :)
