Replacement fin problem, help plz

Postby chickentendah » Sat Jun 09, 2007 2:55 am

Hey guys. So at my last session, I snapped off my center fin (of my tri-fin funboard), and I'm having trouble locating a replacement.

As shown above, my funboard has a "fcs compatible" finbox. The screws are laid out as shown. However, I went to the store and found that they only had fins that had the screw grooves on the opposite sides.

Is my surfboard going against the standard and does it have the screws "backwards"? My store does not have anymore duplicates of the original fins.

Any help is appreciated! :?

They're made like that on purpose because it's a FCS compatible box not a FCS fin box probably the other fins who are suposed to fit that fox have the holes the other way around but depending on the material of your fin you can drain a 1mm depth hole on the other side and it will be fine. sorry for the bad english

I guess they made the holes opposite to the FCS standard to avoid lawsuits? Anyhow, I just ended up taking my board to my local surfboard repair dude, and he drilled + tapped grub screw holes where I needed them.

Thx for reading.
