instead of a fish, why not get a longboard? youll have so much more fun if your learning, and it will be much easier. you have to try not to catch a wave to miss the wave on a longboard. as long as your having fun, thats all that matters

If you are going to get a custom fish, get it as long as will fit in your car, and around 27 inches wide, with a tail at 15 inches wide or so, the width is very helpful.

Yeah but at least I didn't suggest a 12 footer hinged in the middle so that it fits in the car

That would be hilarious....seeing some guy paddling around on a 12 footer, middle hinged mad-scientist board , only to have the hinge in the middle give away and it goes down like the Titanic. Hilarous visual I have of that. :D

Back to the main topic, yeah I'm still not sold on purchasing a fish yet, I may still continue borrowing boards for a while longer...try out a longboard and ride the 7'4'' funboard a few more times before I make my first purchase. I have to say though, I really like the ease of paddling the smaller pointed nose boards and ability to duck dive them. I thought the less bouyant 6'4'' shortboard was much easier to paddle out than the much more bouyant 8' and 8'4'' rounded nose minimals I've ridden before. I don't seem nearly as winded and my shoulders aren't burning quite as bad as before when paddling around on the longer rounded nose boards... where the waves would either knock me off or push me back into shore 20+ feet on my paddle out.
