Cannot believe it, King Canute exists!

Hi guys,

Been away for a long time, moved house and had no internet.

My good lady and I are going to get marreid in July and we've booked our honeymoon in Dhonveli island in the Maldives, which 'coinsidentaly' has some surf!!!!

I had to go to a company called Atoll Travel to book a surf pass. I assumed that the surf pass would allow me to get on a boat and visit the other island to go surfing. I'm not too keen on doing that as it would leave my new wife on the beach or boat on her own.

Anyway, Dick Turpin/King Canute as my friends and I are calling him wants $1050 (US) for a weeks surfing pass, but he only has 4 days available for the week we have booked, so he'll do me a one off special deal of $150 / day. So I emailed him back and said thanks, but no thanks, I'll stick to the break on the island (Pasta Point). Wrong, the complete fukcer wants $150/day for me to walk out of my hut on the beach and surf 10 meters from the shore!!!! As much as it grates me, I'm not prepared to pay anyone to allow the right to surf a beach that I've just paid the best part of £1900 to go to!

Anyone been there? Anyone had similar experiences?
Thinking of taking my board and seeing what happens?

Hold on, who is this guy? what right does he have to tell you where you can surf? Does he own the beach you'll be based on? Because I'll bet you money he doesn't own the sodding ocean!
