AGHHHHHH........ the stress of moving

Postby thaya » Wed Jun 13, 2007 12:33 pm

*tears hair out*

I'd forgotten what a nightmare it is. I'm surrounded by boxes, bags, suitcases, tubs, pots, tape, bubble wrap and 2 nosy cats.... and I can barely move

I've run out of floor space to pile up all my boxes and I now I can't even get in my wardrobe to pack my clothes.

I still have no energy cuz I've got a bad chest infection and feel really rough and I just want to SCREAM.

On the positive side, 4 huge bags full of stuff are going to make their way to the local charity shop, but I still don't know where everything else came from. It doesn't seem like alot when it's all neat and tidy and away. Once everything's out of its place it's like death by suffocation

Only 2 days to go....... and so much still to do :(
I'm going back to bed... :D

Kinda weird how much crap you keep around once you have been in one place for a while.

I'm feeling your pain Thaya!

In the last year, for one reason or another, I've had to move a grand total of three times! And due to me just buying a new property, in about three weeks I'll get to do it all over again!! What fun!!

Keep your chin up gal, I know it seems daunting now but it sounds like your moving to a great new place so keep focused on all the good things to come! :D

Hmmmmmmmmmm.... good things - 10secs to beach (if I run!), 2nice cats, groovy housemates, pool in garden, party this saturday and 7th July, not long till Hawaii, yep, things are looking up :D I just hate the waiting, the organisation and packing... I'll be glad when I'm all settled in.

yes I have cats, kinda...

well, it was part of my cheap rent agreement at my current house to look after my landlady's cats most of the time when my housemate isn't here.

I'm gonna miss them soooooooooooooooooooooooo much when I leave, but the house I'm moving into also has 2 lovely cats, which suits me fine. It's great to grab one when you come in from work... very relaxing.

...although a man would be nicer

I know! I can't believe my luck! My aim was to buy a flat in a year once I've got to know the area etc, but now I'm thinking I'll never want to move out!!!

well, if you get bored and want to work on your paddling you can always stick ya board in the pool! (Although your housemates might think you're a nutter)

Thanks Thaya! :D Like PW said, I'm pretty practised at it now! Luckily, except my boards and my guitars, I've really not got that much stuff. My girlfriend however.......

Good luck with it yourself, hope it goes as well as these things can. :D

I'm hearing you there SP!

I'm just about to move to my first owned property too and instead of making me feel trapped, like I first thought it would, it's given me an enormous sense of freedom!!

That sounds familiar! I've moved just about every 6 months since 1998, and 6 times in 2001  I can't believe thats 9 years of moving around!

The thing is I've lived at my present address for about 18 months, and it just seems so much harder to move now. I'm hoping it'll just be once more before I buy a place and stay, but then I kinda want to go travelling in 2 years time when I'm 30.... I guess I'll just have to see what happens!

Still haven't packed half my stuff and I've only got tonight and tomorrow night left  I honestly can't see me being ready in time...

Tell me about it man!

On top of astronomical house prices, there’s the endless solicitors fee which get really old really quickly!!

I've finally packed just about everything... although I know there's something I'll forget (probably my boards in the garage   )

My housemate's just gone away for the weekend with her boyfriend so it was the last time i'll see her for ages. She burst in to tears  and then set me off too   . It's certainly been interesting living with her

It feels really strange. I mean, I've known for ages that I would have to move and the last week has just been manic trying to sort everything out, but now it's finally come down to it, it just feels odd, like the end of an era or something. I didn't think I'd get all emotional about it though.

Ah well, I'm gonna get an early night as I've got a LONG day tomorrow (and an all night party :D ) and I'm planning on getting up at 6am to make sure I'm all organised and have triple checked everything before I leave!

Will be offline till I get sorted and unpacked (and who knows how long that could take!).
