i think it looks ok. if you can find out what "level" epoxy it is. i think 5 is the highest so if its quite high up then i reckon its good value. i think theyre cheap because theyre chinese not because theyre sh!t. looks like a fun shape to me.

hope that might be a bit more helpful

Maybe I'm just picky, but I've only ever bought two boards without knowing exactly what they were first. One was a stupidly short thruster (couldn't even paddle the bloody thing - sold it within a couple of months) and the other was/is my Nine Plus Carpet - which I still sort of like, but am now thinking of selling in favour of another custom longboard.

Had I been able to try either before buying, I wouldn't have bothered because they just don't suit me........

I know that doesn't really help, but I think my point is, no matter what make, shape or size of board, the only person who can really say whether 'xyz' board is going to be any good is the person that's riding it - whether because they've tried it first or because it's been shaped for them.....

Now, without wishing to make this thread into a sales pitch, we've just teamed up with a shaper who has a fish in his 'armoury' so to speak - and his prices compare very favourably with the link you posted.....

I'd be more than happy to pass you his details if you'd like?? :D

I've never ridden a take-off board (but I know people who have) and my understanding is that they're not great boards for people who can already surf. They're only one small step up from a BIC.

"Designed especially for the intermediate / recreational surfer" - doesnt fill me with confidence that it'd be a fun board to improve on.

Hmmm... I'd be weary... not convinced the glass finish will be as strong as a decent custom built board in the uk.

Reckon you can handle being reminded of the working conditions of those poor buggers building them in China everytime you ride it?

I'd save up another £100 and go and see your local shaper.

i know someone who has a take off board! to be honest its pretty sh!t!! its a minimal, but the outer coat is started peeling off and to be honest, i think you could buy a better quality board, off the shelf, even custom for £300, this http://www.reapersurfboards.co.uk/ could send you in the sort of direction you might want?
