Hi Andil ,
.. Head for Treyarnon bay if you want a campsite right on the edge of a beach. Its wicked lil' bay if you've got kids or family in tow. A big over-watched beach, a large natural rockpool which is used as a swimming/jumping pool as the tide goes out ..and a series of swim-through caves , also when the tide goes out ..lots of lil'caves and such to keep the kids busy
Its a bit hit and miss where surfing is concerned as its quite a narrow bay and needs a good push to get the swell coming up through ..but ive never been dissapointed ( always a lil' something to jump on your board or spongy for

) ..and if Treyarnon isnt working' then you've got Constantine bay just around the corner (5min walk) which has limited but some parking right down on the beach.
Other than that, there is of course busy Newquay.. and a heap of other places ive yet to visit , but if your looking for a busy but not manic area ..Treyarnon wont let you down . Shops and such are limited but thats why i love the place ( you wont be dragged around endless souvenir shops looking for c**p to buy ! )
Happy cornish hunting and let us know where you end up heading for
