fins and surface area

Postby man » Sat May 26, 2007 6:07 pm

my longboard came with a 7.5" center fin and two side bites. can i swap out the 7.5" fin for a 10" fin while keeping the same bites, or will i have too much fin surface area?

Sorry why add a keel and keep the biters?

Either the 10" or tghe 7.5"and biters. Board will turn very different with either setup.

Larger single fin will lstop the back end steping sideways, which is what the biters do, together they'll just work against each other.

Nothing stopping you trying it tho.

You might try an 8" fin and leave off the side bites. It will paddle a little faster without the drag effect of the bites. A 9" fin would be the max.
